Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons.  If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.

PRECAUTIONS
Some horses have experienced reactions involving cutaneous swellings and itching shortly after treatment. In most such cases the horses have been diagnosed as carrying heavy infestations of Onchocerca microfilariae, and it is assumed the reactions are the result of the microfilariae dying in large numbers. Although the symptoms have resolved spontaneously in a few days, symptomatic treatment may be advisable. Consult your veterinary surgeon should these signs persist.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Use only as directed.
Dose:  Bimectin Horse Paste is a ready-to-use oral paste formulation.
The recommended dose rate is 0.2 mg (200 µg) of ivermectin per kg body mass.
Each mass marking on the syringe plunger delivers sufficient paste to treat 100 kg body mass.
The syringe contains sufficient paste to treat one 600 kg horse once.
Administration:  Release the knurled ring on the plunger by making a ¼ turn and sliding the ring up the plunger shaft so that the side of the ring nearest the barrel is at the desired mass marking. Turn the knurled ring ¼ turn to lock in place.
Make sure the horse’s mouth contains no feed. Remove the plastic cap from the tip of the syringe barrel and insert the syringe at the interdental space (the gap between the front and back teeth). Depress the plunger and deposit the paste over the back of the tongue. Immediately raise the horse’s head for a few seconds after dosing.

Parasite Control Program
All horses and donkeys should be included in a regular parasite control program, with special attention being paid to mares, foals and yearlings. Bimectin Horse Paste controls gastro-intestinal, cutaneous and pulmonary nematodes and bots of horses.
Foals should be treated initially at 6-8 weeks of age and at regular two monthly intervals thereafter.
Mares require regular 6-8 weekly treatments.
Stallions should be treated at least twice per year.
Bot infection reaches a peak in autumn with stomach bots being carried into the winter. Treatment during autumn and winter removes this burden.

Environmental safety
Ivermectin is extremely dangerous to fish and aquatic life but has been shown to readily and tightly bind to soil with which it comes into contact and becomes inactive over time. Dispose of used dosing syringes and residual paste by e.g. burying or burning.

PRESENTATION:
