INDICATIONS
EQUILIS® StrepE is a lyophilised live vaccine indicated for the active immunisation of horses against Streptococcus equi to reduce the clinical signs and occurrence of lymph node abscesses.
COMPOSITION
Contains ≥ 109.0 and ≤ 109.4 cfu of live Streptococcus equi strain TW928 per 0.2 ml dose of reconstituted product.
WARNINGS
Vaccinate healthy animals only.
After vaccination a moderate swelling arises at the injection site. This swelling resolves completely within 3 weeks and has no effect on the appetite of the vaccinated animal and causes no apparent discomfort. A slight cloudy discharge commonly occurs from the mucosal injection site 3 or 4 days after vaccination. An increase in rectal temperature may occur on the day of vaccination.
In the case of accidental self injection, seek medical advice immediately and show this package insert to the doctor.
Keep out of reach of children and uninformed persons.
Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide variety of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.
PRECAUTIONS
Do not administer during antibiotic treatment.
In case antibiotics are administered within one week after vaccination, the vaccination should be repeated after antibiotic treatment is finished.
Observe aseptic conditions.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
Equilis® StrepE can be used in pregnant and lactating mares.
DOSAGE
0.2 ml of the reconstituted vaccine.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
USE ONLY AS DIRECTED
Allow the solvent to reach room temperature (25 ˚C) before use.
Aseptically reconstitute the freeze dried vaccine (Streptococcus equi component) with 0.3 ml of the sterile solvent provided but do NOT shake.
Wait 1 minute after the addition of the solvent.
Withdraw 0.2 ml of the reconstituted vaccine into the syringe provided with the vaccine and connect the applicator to the needle.
Administer the whole contents of the syringe submucosally into the inside of the upper lip.
VACCINATION SCHEME
Basic vaccination : Horses from 4 months of age onwards should be given two vaccinations of one dose, with a 4 week interval.
Revaccination : One vaccination of one dose before each period of anticipated risk.
STORAGE
Store at 2 – 8 ˚C.
Protect from light.
Reconstituted vials should be used within 4 hours.
PRESENTATION
Cardboard outer box containing cardboard inner box with 10 vials of freeze-dried vaccine, cardboard inner box with 10 vials of 0.5 mℓ solvent, 10 applicators and 10 syringes with needle.
