For Use by or under the Control of a Veterinarian Only
Reg. No. G2377 Act 36/1947

For the active immunisation of dogs against canine distemper, canine contagious hepatitis, canine parvovirus disease and canine parainfluenza virus infection.

Storage Instructions:

  • Store in the dark between 2 °C and 8 °C.
  • Do not freeze.
  • Avoid prolonged or repetitive exposure to high ambient temperatures.
  • Allow the vaccine to gradually reach room temperature (20 °C to 25 °C) prior to use.
  • Protect from direct sunlight.

Composition:
It is a freeze-dried living attenuated strain of canine distemper virus, canine hepatitis (CAV2), canine parvovirus, canine parainfluenza virus grown in cell-line tissue culture. Each vial contains a single dose for reconstitution.

Contents:

  • Each vial of 0,5 ml of the lyophilised substance contains:
  • Not less than 103 TCID50 canine distemper virus (CDV).
  • Not less than 103 pfu canine adenovirus 2 (CAV2).
  • Not less than 107 TCID50 canine parvovirus (CPV).
  • Not less than 105 pfu of canine parainfluenza virus (CPI).

Warnings:

  • Do not freeze.
  • Following initial vaccination, dogs should not be exposed to infection for at least 14 days.
  • Experience has shown that maternal parvovirus antibody status of the puppies in a litter varies greatly and reliance should not be placed on serological examination of the bitch alone.
  • Destroy any unused vaccine by, for example, burning and dispose of all vaccine containers after vaccination.
  • Do not store partially used containers for future use, and use the entire contents when opened.
  • Accidental self injection may lead to a severe allergic reaction. Consult a physician.
  • Keep out of reach of children and uninformed persons.
  • Although this vaccine has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.

Precautions:

  • Only healthy dogs and puppies should be vaccinated.
  • Observe aseptic precautions. Ensure that the vaccination equipment (needles, syringes, etc) are clean and sterile prior to use.
  • Avoid contamination of the vaccine with traces of disinfectant and spirit.
  • Avoid intravenous injection.
  • It is good vaccination practice when handling the vaccine to avoid contact with the eyes, hands and clothing.

Directions for Use:

Vaccination Programmes:
The preferred age of vaccination against hepatitis and parainfluenza virus infection is 12 weeks of age as this is probably the earliest age at which residual maternal antibody against these two diseases will have waned to levels unlikely to interfere with the immune response. The preferred age for vaccination of puppies against distemper and parvovirus disease is the earliest time at which residual maternal antibody against these two diseases will have waned to levels unlikely to interfere with the immune response. In most cases this age is between 6 and 9 weeks, but in order to ensure protection for individual puppies with very high levels of maternal antibody, a final vaccination at 12 weeks of age against these two diseases would be advisable.

The following recommendations are included since it is likely that immunisation with Nobivac Puppy DHPPi will perform part of a more comprehensive vaccination programme:

  1. Programme for pups with high levels of maternal immunity to parvovirus and distemper:
    Age 9 weeks - Nobivac Parvo-C and L
Age 12 weeks - Nobivac DHPPi and L or RL
  2. Where exposure to distemper or parvovirus is possible before 12 weeks of age or where levels of maternal immunity are unknown:
Age 9 weeks - Nobivac DHP or DHPPi and L
Age 12 weeks - Nobivac DHPPi and L or RL
  3. Where vaccination is not started until 12 weeks of age:
Age 12 weeks - Nobivac DHPPi and L or RL
    Age 14 to 15 weeks - Nobivac L

Notes: Where very early protection against distemper and parvovirus is required, especially in cases where the maternal antibody status of a pup is unknown or where it is known to be of a low order, vaccination with Nobivac Puppy DP should be done at 6 weeks of age. After this, any of the courses a, b or c above can be started at 9 or 12 weeks of age.

Re-vaccination:

It is recommended that dogs be re-vaccinated against:

  • Canine distemper, canine hepatitis - every two years.
  • Canine parvovirus, canine parainfluenza virus infection - every year.
  • Rabies - every three years (it may be modified to comply with local regulations).

Dosage and Administration:

  • The contents of one vial of reconstituted vaccine should be injected subcutaneously.
  • Reconstitute immediately prior to use by the addition of the contents of one vial (0,1 ml).
  • Nobivac L (canine leptospirosis vaccine) one vial (1,0 ml) Nobivac Rabies or one vial Nobivac Solvent.

Presentation:
Cartons of 10 or 50 single dose vials.
