It provides active immunisation of healthy dogs against Leptospira canicola and Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae.
Storage Instructions:
- Store in the dark between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze.
- Avoid prolonged or repetitive exposure to high ambient temperatures following withdrawal from the refrigerator prior to use.
- Allow the vaccine to reach room temperature (20 °C to 25 °C) before use.
- Protect from direct sunlight.
- Composition: The vaccine is inactivated cultures of Leptospira interrogans, serotypes L. canicola and L. icterohaemorrhagiae and is presented as an aqueous suspension in single dose vials.
Contents:
Each vial contains not less than 2 x 108 bacteria of each strain per ml of L. icterohaemarrhagiae F and L. canicola Hond Utrecht IV and 0.01% thiomersal. The suspension fluid consists of Hartman solution and the remains of EMJH growth medium.
Warnings:
- Do not freeze.
- Hypersensitivity reactions, following administration are rare but may be encountered. In this event, administration of adrenaline by subcutaneous injection may be indicated.
- Accidental self-injection may lead to a severe local allergic reaction. Consult a physician.
- Keep out of reach of children and uninformed persons.
- Avoid intravenous injection.
- Although this vaccine has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.
Precautions:
- Only healthy dogs should be vaccinated.
- Observe aseptic precautions. Ensure that the vaccination equipment (needles, syringes, etc) are clean and sterile prior to use.
- Destroy any unused vaccine, by for example, burning and dispose of all the vaccine containers after vaccination.
- Do not store partially used containers for future use, and use the entire contents when opened.
- It is good vaccination practice when handling the vaccine to avoid contact with the eyes, hands and clothing.
Directions for Use:
- Use only as directed.
- Shake well before use.
- The vaccine should be administered by subcutaneous injection in the neck or chest.
- Only healthy dogs should be vaccinated.
- The preferred age of the puppy is between 8 and 9 weeks of age.
Vaccination Scheme:
The first injection is given from about 9 weeks and older, with the second injection given 2 to 4 weeks later.
An annual booster injection is given, preferably before the period of anticipated risk. It may be given as a first vaccination with Nobivac® DHP at 9 weeks of age and as a second vaccination, it may be given with Nobivac® DHP and Nobivac®Rabies.
